Starting on the fast track.

The University of Hertfordshire wanted to put a series of Fast Track workshops together, helping its students to step into the recruitment process with confidence and purpose. Gradcore was brought in to design and deliver the sessions.

After meeting the Gradcore team at AGCAS events, the University of Hertfordshire engaged us to run a series of Fast Track workshops, helping pro-active students to prepare for recruitment season – giving them the best opportunity of success.

The sessions needed to work for large groups of up to 50 students, without demanding too many staff resources. And they needed to be action focussed, providing interactive activities and practical advice. This included application tips and simulated assessment centres, observed by real life employers who could fast track the students into their own recruitment processes.

Feedback shows that, on average, 25% of students left the sessions feeling Very Confident in all areas, 65% felt Confident and only 10% of students felt neither Confident nor Unconfident.

To support the university with sustainable progress, we designed the sessions so that, with our training, they could be delivered by university staff moving forward. Now, every September, the university’s Career Advisers deliver six half-day Fast Track workshops, all based on Gradcore’s initial designs.

“As a third-year student who has attended more than a fair share of job interviews in his life, I wish I had the chance to participate in an event of this magnitude before.”
